The
Flappy Nappy Company is committed to environmental
responsibility. We believe in the concept of
REDUCE-REUSE-RECYCLE, and so we advocate the use of cloth diapers
over disposable, and reclaimed
materials
over new. All of our flannel and terry cloth is 100% cotton,
and 100% reclaimed. This means that we take high-quality used
items made from flannel and terry cloth (like sheets and towels) and
cut them up to make new items after they are sanitized. When
you buy from The Flappy Nappy Company, you are making a purchase that's
not only good for your baby, it's good for Mother Earth. When you
use The Flappy Nappy on your baby, you're changing the world, one
diaper at a time.
Our Sanitization
Process
All
of our reclaimed materials are put through an extensive cleansing
process before they are made into The Flappy Nappy. We use
Tidee Didee diaper service of Portland, Oregon, who give the following
description of their cleansing process. Please note that
chlorine bleach is not used.
To
whom it may concern:
We
here at Tidee Didee pride ourselves
on quality cleaning of all our linens.
To
ensure this quality we put all our
linen through a very extensive wash procedure. There are a total
of 13 different wash cycles, most of which are agitation times, when
our soaps are introduced to the wash. The remainder of the
cycles are rinse cycles that are used to remove any soaps that might be
left in the linens.
There
are 3 necessary steps to ensure a
good, clean linen.
1. Hot water.
All of our linens
are washed in water at least
180oF.
2. Soaps.
All of our materials
are hygienically cleaned. They have been scientifically
processed using a special formula exclusively for diapers.
3. Mechanical
action. Our
machines are open pocket machines to give the linen the maximum
agitation necessary for a cleaner product.
