How
Does it Work?
The Flappy Nappy is easy to put
on, easy to adjust, and easy to launder. Just follow our step-by-step
instructions, and you'll be a pro in no time!
1. What are all of these
flaps?
The Flappy Nappy is
composed of two parts:
1. A long
strip that lays on top and folds over to adjust the length and the
thickness.
2. A short
strip that lays on the bottom and can also be folded to adjust the
thickness.
These two strips are stitched together crosswise in
the middle, creating four flaps.
For babies wearing diaper covers size Newborn to Large, the longest top flap is in the front.
2. How do I
put The Flappy Nappy on?
To
put on the Flappy Nappy, simply adjust the front flap according to your
baby's diaper cover size, and place in the diaper cover. Put the
diaper cover onto your baby as you would with any other diaper. Please
see the pictures below for size adjustment. Remember: the following
folds are just suggestions. You know your baby's size and wetting
pattern best, and the front flap can be used to adjust the length to fit your baby exactly.
The Flappy Nappy is designed to be used
with velcro-close or snap-close diaper covers. It works very will with most
major brands like Bummis, Nikkis, Diaperwraps, Proraps, etc.
These all come in different sizes, but
the Flappy Nappy fits them all! For Newborn, Small, and Medium diaper covers,
assemble the diaper and cover as shown below. For babies wearing size large
covers, the Flappy Nappy should be turned around - please see below under #3,
"What about large-size covers?"
Newborn Fold
Fold the long top flap all the way under, past the center seam. |
Small Fold
Fold the long top flap part way under, just to the center seam. |
Medium/Large Fold
Fold the long top flap under, just to the edge of the bottom flap. |

3. What about
large-size covers?

|
Toddler Fold
Turn
the Flappy Nappy around so that the long top flap is in back.
The longer top strip should be fully
extended toward the back of the diaper cover to keep it in place.
The
shorter bottom strip
is in the front, where the most
absorbency is needed.
For
heavy wetters, you may wish to use a second Flappy Nappy, placed
end-to-end.
|
The Flappy Nappy can be adjusted infinitely to
exactly fit your baby's wetting pattern, size, and diaper cover. Below are some
examples of simple folds.
|

|
Extra Absorbency in Front
Bring the bottom back flap to the front to make four layers in front.
Adjust the long front flap to the appropriate length for your baby's size as usual. |
|

|
Extra Absorbency in Center
Fold one of the bottom flaps in half to make 4 layers in the center.
Adjust the long front flap to the appropriate length for your baby's size as usual.
|
1. Change your baby promptly.
2. After you take the
Flappy Nappy off the baby, discard any solids into the toilet. The Flappy Nappy can be tossed directly into
the wash as-is, even if it is all wadded up!
3. No pre-soaks are necessary, though color-safe, non-chlorine bleach can be used for stubborn stains.
4.
Always wash diapers in hot water to disinfect them. The Flappy
Nappy is made from pre-shrunk 100% cotton and should not shrink, even
when washed in hot water.
5. If possible, use a biodegradable soap or detergent that
is free of irritants like perfumes. Usually, the Flappy Nappy does not usually require double rinsing. However, when using bleach, or for newborns especially, diapers should be
double rinsed to ensure that no potentially irritating soap/bleach residues remain on the diapers.
6. The Flappy Nappy is designed to be dried in a tumble dryer.
